Fratin Brothers Vineyard continues a long tradition of family winemaking in the Grampians area, The vineyards are nestled between the rolling hills of the Great dividing range in the Grampians region. Traditional winemaking methods including basket pressing are still used to create a wines of elegance and distinction.
Fratin Brothers Grampians Merlot is made from the finest locally grown grapes, resulting in a classic cool climate wine, to be enjoyed with great food. The wine displays varietal characters, while maintaining the full fruit flavours from the vineyard and supported by well-balanced oak integration. Earthy and seductive, this wine will cellar well for at least another 5-8 years.
Alcohol: 13.5%
Colour: Medium garnet red
Bouquet: Intense blueberry and young blackberry aromas and earthy brambly notes, a hint of licorice and anise, and tobacco leaf.
Palate: Blackberry flavours dominate the medium weighted palate with dry grippy tannins to finish. An excellent food wine, try with lamb.
